Apologies for the sun on the camera lens, I need to rig a visor for it.  I am standing roughly below where my earlier video was taken (see Prince Gully posting from a few days ago).  It was fun setting the ten-second timer and running down there!

The previously rained-out checkdam installation in this gully has now officially been rescheduled for Sunday, February 20th at 1pm.

Here is a glimpse of what is to come:

These are some of the raw materials for gully-bandaging, staged near the gully and ready to go. Stone, and something called “coir” that is purportedly handmade from coconut husks in India and is brilliant for slowing storm water and settling out suspended silt.  There is a beautiful demonstration of its use up at the new Skyline Checkdams (see posting for mid-December).
