I was just up on Diablo this past weekend, and this season’s wildflowers are just beginning to open. These photos are from a long, lovely walk up Dan Cook Canyon, through Rock City, and up to Tombstone Ridge on a glorious May 29 of last year. A foreshadowing of what is to come, as spring unfolds! All photos are in HQ, so works great in full screen (start slideshow then click the little icon in the lower right):
I shall add species and location descriptions soon, though there are quite a few whose names I do not know yet. That was part of the purpose of this walk, actually — to get to know more of the forbaceous plants in this amazingly floristically diverse state. Comments as to species, common name, rarity, and so forth would be more than welcome!
